The Thesis

The hardest moments in disaster response are not technical.
They are linguistic.

A typhoon makes landfall in southern Taiwan. The emergency-management bureau holds a press conference in Mandarin. Foreign embassies need English. Japanese partners need Japanese, in real time, without losing the technical vocabulary of an emergency.

The status quo — cloud-hosted captioning, dispatched interpreters, English-first AI — fails predictably under exactly these conditions. It fails when the network thins, when the dialect deepens, and when the technical register matters most. Ariel Innovations was founded to close this seam.

Our disaster-resilience work is the planned field-grade descendant of the same technology that earned us Taiwan utility-model patent M678964, Japan utility-model registration 3255721, and a feature on Taiwan Public Television: multilingual real-time captioning, on the edge, for the moments when the rest of the stack stops working. Supertitle™ is the proof point. The field is the direction.

What we are building toward.

A field-grade descendant of our patented Supertitle™ system. The intent: edge devices that transcribe, translate, and project multiple working languages for multi-agency exercises, multilingual press briefings, and real-time situational reporting — engineered to operate without a continuous uplink.

Supertitle™ (Taiwan utility-model patent M678964 · Japan utility-model registration 3255721) is already demonstrated on stage. The field is the engineering direction we are taking it next, designed to be hardened for the conditions where uplink is the first thing to go.

Supertitle™ continuously learns speech, vocabulary, and lexical patterns from rehearsals and live performance, with human-in-the-loop review to approve or reject each finding.

Joint Exercise

Multinational disaster-response exercise

Emergency services and civilian agencies from three countries running table-top and field exercises together. Real-time captioning lets every party hear the brief in their working language without dispatching interpreters or relying on a hub-and-spoke uplink.

Crisis Briefing

Multilingual emergency press conference

Local emergency-management leadership delivers a briefing in Mandarin; live captions project simultaneously in Japanese and English for foreign press and partner agencies. No external uplink, no off-site interpreter chain.

Field Coordination

Field operations room

A staging facility for typhoon, earthquake, or pandemic response runs status updates and resource coordination in multiple languages on the same room display. Captioning is part of the room infrastructure, not a separate vendor stack.

Diplomatic Forum

Multilateral dialogue

Track-1.5 and Track-2 dialogues across Tokyo, Taipei, and Washington run in three working languages with real-time captioning that preserves technical vocabulary — the kind of register where translation latency becomes a diplomatic problem.

Design principles · in plain language

Three things that have to be true at once.

1 · Sovereign

Models run on edge devices controlled by the operating institution. No data leaves the room unless the institution chooses to send it.

2 · Multilingual

Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, and English are first-class. Code-switching mid-sentence is supported, because that is how the region actually speaks under pressure.

3 · Resilient

The system continues to function during partial network failure. The institution does not lose its captioning when it loses its uplink.

The same engineering team and the same architecture will carry the field-grade build — the IP is what makes this our seam to defend, not anyone else’s.

PTS Feature

Taiwan Public Television (PTS) profiled the underlying Supertitle™ stage demonstration in a feature segment. Same on-device, multilingual, edge-AI architecture — just running on a public arts stage instead of in an emergency operations room. The field is the next step.
